CCC Allocations
The CCC offers two rounds of allocations each fiscal year. These are the Spring Allocation process and Winter Reallocation process. Specific instructions—including budget sheet templates and submission requirements—will be published at the time of each allocation round.
Below are overviews of each allocation process. Some important reminders about CCC funding and funding eligibility are also included to help you prepare for allocations throughout the year.
Spring Allocation
The Spring Allocation is the CCC's largest funding round. Beginning in March, the Spring Allocation process aims to financially prepare clubs for the coming academic year. First round concession stand allocations also happen as part of the Spring Allocation process.
Spring Allocations are the "key" that unlocks all other opportunities for CCC funding. In order to be eligible for funds through Winter Reallocations or any of the CCC's supplemental funding sources, a club must have submitted a Spring Allocation budget sheet in the most recent Spring Allocation cycle.
Winter Reallocation
The Winter Reallocation is an opportunity for clubs to request money to support events not budgeted for on their Spring Allocation budget sheet or events whose costs have significantly changed since the time of the Spring Allocation. It takes place around the time of winter break.
Clubs must have submitted a Spring Allocation budget sheet in the previous March in order to be eligible for Winter Reallocation funds.
Allocation FAQs
Where does CCC funding come from?
Every undergraduate student at Notre Dame pays a $95 Student Activity Fee each year as part of their tuition. The total pool of Student Activity Fees—plus a portion of the proceeds of The Shirt and the interest accrued on the Student Union Endowment—forms the yearly Student Union budget. A minimum of 40% of the entire Student Union budget is appropriated to the CCC for club allocations. The CCC does not retain a single penny of this 40% for its own purposes, allocating the entirety to Notre Dame's 300+ undergraduate clubs.

Is my club required to participate in allocations?
Only probationary clubs are required to participate in allocations. If your club is not in its probationary term, then you are not required to participate in any CCC allocation. However, please note that your club must have submitted a budget sheet in the most recent Spring Allocation cycle in order to be eligible for Winter Reallocations or any source of additional funding from the CCC.

Is my club required to collect dues?
Yes, if your club is not in the Social Service Division. Non-Social Service clubs must collect dues of at least $5 per active member per semester (meaning a minimum of $10 per active member per year) in order to be eligible for allocations. These dues are not considered paid until the dues of at least 75% of your club's active members have been deposited in your club's bank account.
For clubs collecting dues both semesters, fall dues must be deposited by November 1st. Spring dues, and once-a-year dues, must be deposited by March 1st.
Social Service clubs are automatically exempt from the CCC's dues requirement, as their community service is itself considered a form of dues payment. If your non-Social Service club is affiliated with a national organization that explicitly prohibits dues collection, you must reach out to the CCC in advance of the above dues deadlines and receive a written exemption to the CCC requirement if you wish to be eligible for allocations. In the event of conflicting policies between the CCC and the national organization that a club is affiliated with, CCC policy takes precedence.
Is my club eligible to apply for an allocation?
In order to receive funding from the CCC, clubs must have fulfilled a number of requirements throughout the academic year:
- Clubs must have fundraised 20% of their potential allocation amount throughout the year, and are not eligible to receive additional funding beyond this cap.
- Clubs, with the exception of those in the Social Service Division, must have collected dues of $10 per person from at least 75% of the club's active members.
- Clubs must have completed all allocation requirements communicated by the CCC and SAO throughout the year.
- Clubs must not be in debt. Clubs currently in debt are completely barred from receiving an allocation from the CCC and should reach out to the CCC immediately.
Will my club receive an allocation?
It depends on the situation of your club, and the situations of all clubs applying for allocations. Each year, the magnitude of projected expenses far exceeds what the CCC can possibly allocate. This means the CCC must be very strict in how it allocates funding. Clubs must demonstrate their need for CCC funds, and must meet all eligibility requirements for an allocation. Clubs that have not fundraised at all or collected any dues, for example, will be immediately disqualified from the allocation process, as this is not fair to clubs that have worked hard to raise money throughout the year in fundraising and dues payments.
What happens if my club doesn't recieve an allocation?
If your club submitted a Spring Allocation budget sheet, then even if your club does not recieve money your club will still be eligible to apply for funds at various points throughout next academic year. These funds include the CCC's Winter Reallocation and the other CCC additional funding pools.
Can the CCC fund every event my club is planning to hold next year?
There are a number of restrictions that impact how the CCC can allocate funding. For example, the CCC is barred from funding club member merchandise and food for off-campus club activities, and CCC members will completely eliminate these projected costs from club budget proposals. CCC members will also often cut down expenses related to airfare and lodging, as funding these costs would not constitute the highest and best use of the Student Activity Fee.
How can my club prepare for allocations?
Your club can prepare for allocations by watching your emails for reminders from the CCC and attending all CCC Club Information Meetings. Non-Social Service clubs should also be sure to collect yearly dues amounting to at least $10 per active club member by the deadlines commuicated by the CCC. We also strongly suggest you keep careful track of your club's finances throughout the year. Hold onto receipts and maintain a comprehensive spreadsheet of all club income and expenditures, as you will be asked to provide detailed records of your club's spending on the budget sheet.
The CCC is always willing to help clubs ensure their preparedness for allocation. Reach out with any questions about policy or eligibility you have.
